The US secretary of education is the head of the department of education. He or she is also accountable for discussing strategic matters relating to education with the president and recommending policies, which shape the education system. Education is primarily a State. States and communities, as well as public and private organizations of all kinds, that establish schools and colleges, develop curricula, and determine requirements for enrollment and graduation. The Secretary of Education is responsible for overseeing and making big decisions for public schooling.
